We didn’t plan to… but… we ended in El Rocío.
We just looked for a cheap and nice camping next to the Doñana National Park… and… we ended in El Rocío.
Honestly, for us “El Rocío” is a synonym of “sensational press” and of type of people we’re not interested in at all. Once a year, during 1 week in May, there is a huge peregrination of devotes towards El Rocío and sensational press is full of pictures from all the famous people from Andalucía that attends it: people like La Pantoja, TV journalists, bullfighters, models, etc.
So, honestly, we were a bit dramatic, like “Oh, what are we doing here? How did that happen to us?”. We were a bit scared.
But, as we all know, one can have a mental image totally distorted from the reality.
And that was our story: we discovered a magic place that makes you travel to the past, to the wild-wild west, to the heart of the horse-style villages, to the heart of Doñana… We definitely fall in love with El Rocio and we want to make you also love it with this photo diary. Enjoy!
Such a beautiful place. I would like to buy some of those dresses too..

I love that photo of all the dresses! Are they for flamenco dancing, or am I completely mistaken? Sometimes it’s nice to go to places that are a little different from your ‘normal’ destination!

Yes! They’re the typical dress of South Spain for the parties, ferias, “sevillanas” dancing! You can use it for dancing too, of course! :DDDD

So you can rent those costumes for the pictures or are they given free? Seems like a nice photo opp place. 🙂

This is the typical costum of south spain for special days (Feria, etc). That was a shop actually. I only got it to put it over me for the pic hehe

What a quaint town with lovely buildings and lots of vibrancy. It’s always a good thing to have your assumptions put in check, as often the results are good!
